FAQ
-
What format does Aloha CC&T need for transcription?
For audio only, we can transcribe a number of digital formats including: .mp3, .m4a, .wav, and for video formats: .mp4, .mov, .wmv, among others.
-
How do I send digital audio or video files to Aloha CC&T?
You can upload digital files by clicking on the Upload link at the top of this page OR click on the Upload Files button on the Services page.
In addition, we can download digital files through your FTP (file transfer protocol) site (if you have one) or SFT (secure file transfer) site (if you have one).
-
What will the transcripts look like?
Unless otherwise specified:
Transcripts will be delivered as a Word document. Time codes appear on left-hand side of page approximately every 30 seconds. Transcripts are double-spaced. Pages are numbered in upper right-hand corner. A header will identify subject and/or document title on each page. Each file will be a separate document. Interviewer’s questions will be paraphrased. Only interviewee’s answers will be transcribed verbatim. Transcripts are spell-checked but not proofread.
-
Can speakers be identified?
This is usually not a problem as most interviewees’ and speakers’ names will help us identify them. Please note that it is often difficult or impossible to identify individual speakers on an audio-only file when there are two or more speakers.
-
What about B-Roll?
We normally ignore B-Roll unless the client requests that we describe it. We can transcribe portions of what might be considered B-Roll, such as a speaker describing computer screens, or “walk & talk” sections, if requested to do so.
-
How will transcripts be sent to me?
Transcripts are sent to the email address supplied by the client.
